Recreational marijuana now borders Ohio, with Michigan becoming one of the most recent states to legalize it. Now, a short ride north can put you inside a dispensary ready to buy, but the Ohio State Highway Patrol is watching the border.

If you’re 21 or older and have a valid ID, you’re free to go up to Michigan and buy recreational marijuana, but bringing it back into Ohio and using it here could put you in legal trouble.

Just over the state line of Michigan lies Morenci, the state’s southernmost city and home to four dispensaries, including Michigan Supply and Provisions, where recreational and medicinal marijuana is sold.

In the Buckeye state, you need a doctor’s recommendation for an approved ailment to get medical cannabis.

“Sometimes, it’s life changing. Sometimes, people are just wanting some education,” said Coleman Labarr, general manager of Michigan Supply and Provisions.
