As non-essential Michigan businesses shut down operations after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-at-home order, marijuana shops across the state continue to operate via curbside pickup and home deliveries.

Like bars and restaurants, marijuana dispensaries can no longer serve customers in-store, but local pot shops say sales are holding steady as they transition to online orders.

“We haven’t really lost too much from it, people are staying loyal and coming out,” said George Pittenturf, a manager at the ReLeaf Center in Niles.

Now, customers at ReLeaf can call the store and speak with an employee about their order. The customer will give the reference number to an outdoor attendant — wearing protective equipment — who will scan the customer’s identification, process payment and deliver the order.
