ABKO Labs, a state licensed facility that offers Michigan compliant medical marijuana testing, has relaunched after a brief pause to improve operations. As a result, the company has changed its name to ABKO 2.0.
One result of the improvements made is ABKO 2.0 can test marijuana flower in two to three days, while facilities indicate they have been having to wait two to three weeks. ABKO offers regional pick-up service at no charge.
The core of ABKO 2.0’s business is providing safety and compliance testing on medical flower to be sure the product is free from chemical residue, heavy metals, Microbials contamination and foreign matter debris while providing potency information.
While only the state can determine whether a plant is Hemp, ABKO 2.0 can perform all the same safety tests on hemp being processed into ingestible forms.
“While our science was excellent there were operational issues that may have prevented growth. It was a tough decision but it was worth it,” said co-owner Amy Brown.
Specifically, ABKO 2.0 offers the following services for both the Cannabis and Hemp industries.
Cannabinoid Potency – Cannabinoid potency data quantifies levels of plant cannabinoids present in cannabis products.
Pesticides – ABKO 2.0 tests for the 58 prohibited substances. Pesticides are commonly used to protect plants against weeds, fungi, insects or small animals.
Heavy Metals – Heavy metals are contaminants that may originate from water, soil or nutrients. ABKO 2.0 tests for lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, chromium and nickel.
Water Activity – Measuring the water activity in a cannabis product is an excellent way to test how susceptible the product is to microbial contamination.
Foreign Matter – Foreign materials in cannabis pose a serious health hazard to patients who are using plant products to treat their medical conditions. A simple physical examination under a high-powered microscope helps ensure the cannabis will not exacerbate conditions or pose new health risks.
Microbial Screening – Microbial screening safeguards consumer health. This includes e-coli, salmonella, total yeast and mold, aspergillus and coliforms.
ABKO 2.0 is working diligently on securing an Adult Use license as well. More information at www.abkolabs.com
