Michigan Governor Joins Call for Federal Marijuana Legalization on 4/20

Michigan voters legalized medical marijuana in 2008 and recreational marijuana in 2018, but at the federal level, cannabis remains illegal.

Despite 18 states and Washington D.C. having forms of legal recreational marijuana and 36 states allowing medical marijuana use, the DEA still designates it as a Schedule I controlled substance with “no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.”
