Michigan set a monthly sales record for marijuana products in April 2022 with nearly $195 million in total sales for both adult use and medical, Cannabis Regulatory Agency Executive Director Andrew Brisbo announced.

On a year-to-year comparison to April 2021:

– Medical marijuana sales were down 44 percent (from $48 Million to $27 Million)

– Adult-use marijuana sales were up 60 percent (from $105 Million to $168 Million)

This sales record is despite the fact that the average retail flower price (ounce) dropped from $203.91 in April 2021 to $123.54 in April 2022; for medical sales from $245.99 to $133.19.

On the medical side of the industry, there are currently 1285 active licenses (459 provisioning centers) and 161 municipalities have opted in.

On the adult use side, there are now 1412 active licenses (500 retailers) and 119 municipalities have opted in.

Adult-use sales were given a big boost on April 20 (420 the annual cannabis celebration) when more than $15 million in marijuana was sold in a single day.
