In a surprise announcement Aug. 8, Cannabis Regulatory Agency Director Andrew Brisbo will assume a new job in mid-September as Director of the Bureau of Construction Codes at LARA.
Brisbo, who is on vacation this week, was not available for comment. But Robert Leddy, communications director for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said the state will be looking to fill the position quickly.
“We are proud of the incredible team at the Cannabis Regulatory Agency for establishing Michigan as one of the top cannabis markets in the country,” the statement reads.
“Over the last few years, the industry has experienced rapid growth with the creation of over 20,000 well-paying jobs and the generation of $500 million in tax revenue. We look forward to continuing to work with Director Brisbo in the agency until he transitions to his new leadership role as director of the Bureau of Construction Codes at the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs on September 17.”
CRA communications director David Harns said as far as he knows Director Brisbo will still appear on Four20 Post Live on Wednesday Aug. 31 at 1 pm as originally planned.
We will provide more details on this breaking story as they are gathered.
