Lucky’s Community Cannabis Company, a recreational cannabis dispensary
in downtown Big Rapids, is celebrating the opening of their first store with a grand opening
event on Saturday September 3 from 11 AM to 7 PM. The event will feature, music, tarot
reading, cannabis vendors, special deals and a live painting exhibit, according to a press release.
The store amd entertainment venue, formerly a Masonic Lodge, is located at 120 S. Michigan
Ave in downtown Big Rapids on the second floor above Star Shooters. Lucky’s officially opened
on Monday, July 18, 2022. The grand opening event was set for September 3rd to
accommodate the twenty-one and over FSU students returning to school that may want to join
in the celebration.
Star Shooters is partnering with Lucky’s on this event by offering select $5 appetizers for the
first 150 attendees when they bring in a receipt from Lucky’s. Star Shooters owner, Jerry
Boman, and Lucky’s co-owner, Marc Joel Robert, are former fraternity brothers and alumni of
Ferris State University. Lucky’s is the only provisioning center in Big Rapids owned and
operated by an FSU alumn. This location is the first of two opening this year with the second
store opening at the end of September in Muskegon.
“We’re really excited to have this location in downtown Big Rapids,” said co-owner Marc Joel
Robert. “As an FSU alumni, I am very proud to bring Lucky’s to this community. This project has
been in the works for quite some time and we couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out.”
Robert said. “We fully intend to honor our commitment to being a community cannabis company
and look forward to many years of partnerships and collaborations with organizations
throughout the city.”
The event will take place in the newly renovated theater space in the back half of the second
floor. Entertainment includes music by DJ PRIM, tarot readings by Big Rapids native Marjorie
Steele and a live painting exhibit by artist Angel Coon of Earthwise.
Charitable donations from the event will go to the Animal Rescue Coalition and Pride Big
