Muskegon-based Sparrow Consulting announced that they will be pivoting their business model to focus on hospitality, tourism, and cannabis music events. Dérive Travel, a subsidiary of Sparrow Consulting, will offer cannabis friendly accommodations and comprehensive travel planning services to travelers worldwide.
Sparrow Consulting’s announcement comes at a time when many cannabis-related businesses are struggling due to uncertain regulations and competition from larger companies. Despite this, the cannabis market is expected to reach $75 billion by 2030. With its new direction, Sparrow Consulting plans to capitalize on this growth by providing comprehensive travel planning and accommodations services to cannabis consumers throughout the World.
“Muskegon is a great place to debut concierge elevated travel planning and accommodations. Muskegon has seen incredible growth in hospitality and tourism over the last decade, just look at our success with Cannabash!” Sparrow Consulting will still serve its clients in the compliance and business development space, but will be focusing substantial efforts on its tourism, festival, and hospitality direction,” said CEO Connie Maxim-Sparrow.
“Sparrow Consulting joins Michigo, the Michigan Cannabis Tourism Association, and Sparx & Recreation, the latest tourism publication to emerge on the cannabis scene. Michigan cannabis thought leaders continue to push the envelope, looking at ways to couple all that Michigan has to offer in both tourism and cannabis! For those interested in learning more about this new offering, Dérive Travel invites them to visit www.derive-travel.com to learn more.”
The company has already begun working with several businesses in Michigan, Colorado, and Missouri. Dérive Travel CEO Connie Maxim-Sparrow stated that the company made the decision to pivot because they believe there is still great potential in the cannabis industry, and the accommodations space is growing exponentially.
Sparrow Consulting also has created Dedaco, a state licensed temporary marijuana event and production company. Dedaco will produce Cannabash 2023, in Muskegon July 8. The inaugural Cannabash in July 2022 attracted more than 7,000 attendees to Softball World to experience a stigma free festival with legally vended cannabis products. Dedaco anticipates announcing this year’s Cannabash line up in the coming weeks with tickets going on sale this month.
Dérive Travel also is providing services in the cannabis hospitality and tourism market segment. The company is offering its clients unmatched expertise and resources when it comes to traveling to areas where cannabis is legal, Maxim-Sparrow said. With legalization on the rise, Dérive Travel is well-positioned to help individuals and groups explore all that the cannabis tourism industry has to offer. Working with licensed cannabis brands, focusing on tours of dispensaries and grow operations to cannabis-friendly accommodations, the company will provide everything needed for an unforgettable cannabis vacation.
In response to explosive growth in the legalized cannabis market throughout North America, Dérive Travel will provide cannabis hospitality and tourism services with its portfolio. This move positions Dérive Travel as an early mover in what is expected by some industry experts to be a $20 billion dollar hospitality and tourism market by 2030.
The division will focus on bringing together two exploding markets:
Mainstream travel looking for unique experiences off beaten paths;
Legal cannabis enthusiasts that want immersive adventures into how this newly liberated plant has been integrated into society outside their home state or country .
From destination scouting, recommending activities ranging from Bud & Breakfasts™ (think Airbnb but instead breakfast cooked with infused butter), arranging private dinners hosted by personal chefs cooking with weed pairings, or getting tickets to the latest cannabis music, festival like Cannabash, Maxim-Sparrow said Derive offers something for everyone to experience an elevated travel experience. Its first Bud & Breakfast, The Nest, provides accommodations in Muskegon. The Nest is listed on several tourism sites throughout the world.
