May adult-use and medical marijuana sales dipped slightly in May from April, but growth was still up nearly 32 percent from May a year ago.

May sales for both categories totaled $245.9 million. In April and March monthly sales hovered around $250 million. Which means for the last three reporting months cannabis sales in Michigan were nearly $750 million.

Taking a closer look at the May report provided by the Cannabis Regulatory Agency, shows medical sales totaled only $7.1 million, down about 70 percent from May 2022, while adult-use sales totaled $238.9 million, up 45.4 percent from May a year ago.

In May 2023, flower prices rose to $1450 per pound, but that price was 31 percent lower than May 2022. Yet some experts say the price declines of the past 12 months may have finally hit bottom. So far in 2023, sales have grown 38.4 percent compared to the first five months of 2022. The program should continue to expand ahead as supply becomes more available and as distribution expands.
