A well-known historic Ypsilanti building will soon be a spot to buy marijuana.
Quality Roots is set to open its marijuana dispensary in the 101-year-old former Farm Bureau building at 2 W. Forest Ave. on Monday, July 31. This is company’s seventh dispensary in Michigan, with other locations in Westland and Madison Heights also planning to open soon, according to the company’s website.
Customers can find 50 to 100 brands of flower, pre-rolls, vape cartridges, edibles, concentrates and CBD products at the dispensary.

While it may not have been easy, Quality Roots CEO Aric Klar said he is excited to bring the Birmingham-based company to Ypsilanti in this historic building.
“The best part for me is being able to enter another community and provide a level of service, variety and trust,” he said.
Quality Roots works to transform the cities its dispensaries are located in, Klar said, adding he realized how important revitalizing the Farm Bureau building is for Ypsilanti with the help of longtime resident and entrepreneur Jeff Guyton.
The building, which was placed on Ypsilanti’s dangerous buildings list in 2015, underwent $2 million in renovations and about 14 months of construction. Klar said the list of problems was extensive when the building was purchased.
