A laboratory scientist specialist for the Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Authority testified that Viridis Laboratories passed semi-annual inspections in December 2020 after it addressed “deficiencies.”
Dr. Noah Rosenzweig testimony came before an administrative law judge who is hearing testimony about whether Viridis’ labs skirted the CRA’s administrative rules and produced “unreliable” or “inaccurate” test results related to marijuana contamination and potency.
The hearing began in May, but ALJ Stephen B. Goldstein initially prohibited the media from viewing the proceedings. He reversed that decision in June after media outlets requested documents under the Freedom of Information Act.
On cross examination, Virdis’ attorney Brandon M.H. Schumacher questioned Rosenzweig about tests at Virdis’ North and Lansing labs.
Rosenzweig agreed that the possibility of deficiencies exists at each lab, in part, due to human error.
The hearing is expected to continue in August and September.
