Common Citizen has received Green Market Report’s 2023 Best Cultivator award at the 2023 Michigan Cannabis Business Summit at One Campus Martius in Detroit, the company said in a press release.

The Best Cultivator award recognizes quality cannabis production and industry sustainability practices, both mainstays at every level of Common Citizen’s operations. It also recognizes leadership in ensuring cannabis industry employees are treated fairly and receive equal treatment to those working in other industries.

Common Citizen operates a state-of-the-art, hybrid cannabis greenhouse in Marshall. The greenhouse uses sunlight to help offset energy costs, supplements grow operations with artificial light, uses a closed-loop carbon dioxide water system that recycles and minimizes waste, and utilizes best practices for natural pesticides and control methods. Common Citizen is certified in both Good Agricultural Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices — the highest quality and safety standards consistent with the FDA.

“At Common Citizen, our success would not be possible without the hard work and dedication each and every one of our Citizens demonstrates every day,” CEO Mike Elias said. “Our Citizens have created a community of trailblazers in a highly competitive industry and helped our continued mission to serve Cannabis for Humanity. Working together, we will continue fostering our culture of compassion, collaboration, courage and helping achieve meaningful change.”
