Michigan’s largest utilities, DTE, Consumers Energy, and Lansing BWL, are offering incentives and rebates to businesses that have installed or plan to install energy-efficient equipment.
For most of the state’s regulated utilities, cannabis cultivators can get credit for equipment installations completed anytime in 2023; DTE customers can earn money for projects installed since January 1, 2022.
Rebates vary depending on the projected energy savings compared to less efficient alternatives and
can equal up to 100 percent of the total project costs. Incentives for many projects are well over $100,000.
Eligible equipment for rebates includes:
- LED grow lights
- Highly efficient HVAC systems
- Standalone dehumidifiers
- Building automation systems
- Water conservation and water recapture
- Hallway and office lighting
- LED exterior lighting
- Lighting controls
- Kitchen equipment
- Any legally operating business with a commercial electric or gas meter is eligible for energy
efficiency incentives or rebates, and cannabis growers are encouraged to apply. - Learn more at Climate Resources Group
