Michigan is set to launch of the “Best in Grass” competition to spotlight the premier cannabis offerings within the state’s thriving recreational market. The contest is organized by Best in Grass – an business established by two former High Times events insiders. Judging starts April 6.

The contest will showcase more than 200 entries spanning 60 distinct cannabis brands across various categories such as flowers, concentrates, vape products, and edibles. Winners will be announced at the Royal Oak Music Theatre on June 18.

Entry involves local cannabis entities contributing their products to Best in Grass, which then organizes them into categories for distribution across 25 participating retailers statewide.

The judging kits are priced from $75 to $280, depending upon the product category, with Best in Grass benefiting from a portion of the sales proceeds, said Mark Kazinec, the company’s president and COO, and a former High Times VP of events and competitions, in a press release. Kit purchasers get to participate in the judging, as well as earn a $20 discount redeemable at the dispo where purchased.

Dispensaries include Leaf and Bud, Puff, The Grove, Breeze, Green Lab Provisions, Remedii Natural Health, The Bloomery, North Coast Provisions, Rize, and Da Cut, among others.
