The Cannabis Regulatory Agency’s social equity team is currently accepting applications for the FY 2025 Social Equity Grant Program (SEGP). Social Equity Program licensees are either eligible – or close to eligible – to receive a share of one million grant dollars!
The funds available through the SEGP come in the form of grants from the State of Michigan that do not need to be repaid if they are spent in one or more of the following categories:
- Employee education – funds may be used for an employee of the entity to take one or more classes or courses from an accredited institution that are relevant to the entity’s business
- Business needs – funds may be used towards compliance with licensing and regulatory statutes and rules
- Community investment – funds may be used in conjunction with – or donated to – organizations, non-profits, and/or charities that positively impact the community in which the entity is located
To participate in the SEGP, entities must:
- Have a valid CRA-issued adult-use license
- Currently have eligible Social Equity Program participants with majority ownership of the entity
- Be a certified participant in the CRA’s Social Equity All-Star Program
The application window for the FY 2025 SEGP opened on November 1, 2024, and will close on November 30, 2024. The completed grant application must be received by the CRA via email no later than 5:00 pm on November 30, 2024. The application and instructions can be found on the SEGP webpage.
Only one grant will be awarded per qualifying entity, regardless of how many licenses the entity has. Once it is determined how many applicants meet the criteria for approval, then each approved grantee will receive an equal share of the available one million grant dollars. [Example: 50 grantees = $20,000 per grantee.]
Social Equity Program licensees who are not yet participants in the CRA’s Social Equity All-Star Program can find more information on how to participate in the program here. Participation in the CRA’s Social Equity All-Star Program is a requirement that must be met before a complete application will be considered for the SEGP.
A CRA education session covering the FY 2025 SEGP is now available in the CRA Video Library here.
Any questions regarding the SEGP should be sent to the CRA’s Social Equity Team via email: CRA-SEGrants@michigan.gov.
