The good news is May Michigan Cannabis Sales totaled $272.6 million, up almost 1 percent from the April sales of $270 million. But when you compare May 2025 with May 2024, sales were down 2.5 percent from a year ago.

The news is even worse for medical cannabis sales. Medical sales fell 65.6 percent from a year ago to roughly $600,000 in May 2025.

Flower pricing also continues its slide. In May 2025, per pound price was $1011, a record low, and off 28.3 percent from a year ago.

When many cannabis companies built their business plans in 2019, when adult-recreation cannabis went legal, the figured on selling weed at about $4,000 a pound. The huge decrease is what’s triggered a huge industry consolidation as many small cannabis companies struggle to pay the bills, while others are in receivership.

The only question for the industry is whether May flower prices have reached the bottom?

Sales by Product Type from the CRA Monthly report flower remains the best seller with $117.9 million, followed by Vape Cartridges at $49.2 million, with Inhalable Compound Concentrate at $44 million. The full chart is below.
