After decades of providing a sales venue at the annual Ann Arbor Hash Bash, the Monroe Street Fair will not take place this year, said Owner Charlie Strackbein. He made the annoucement on the Monroe Street Fair Facebook page.
“After many years, the environment around campus has changed in ways that mean we cannot fairly produce the fair — logistically or responsibly — at this time. No vendor applications or commitments have been accepted for the current year,” Strackbein said.
He didn’t specify what these issues are.
But he did say “looking ahead, any conversations about future years are exploratory only and will remain paused until all relevant considerations have been reviewed. Please don’t assume timelines, formats, or outcomes.”
He concluded by adding: “We appreciate the community’s long history with Monroe Street and thank you for your patience and understanding.”
