Lansing Cannabis Grow Facility To Shut Down

May 13, 2026 | Feature, Great Lakes Region, Michigan

A large-scale marijuana grow operation in Lansing will cease operations on June 26, putting 94 people out of work.

Ascend Wellness Holdings, Inc. told employees of the pending layoffs on April 27.

“AWH will temporarily cease operations at its Lansing, Michigan facility for an extended period while repairs and remediation are completed following a fire,” wrote Ben Prince, a spokesman for the company, in an email to 6 News. “The Company considered all viable options, but closure was necessary to ensure the safety of employees due to the scale of the planned construction. The Company is focused on supporting all employees who may be impacted by the closure.”

6 News has been asking Ascend Wellness Holdings for the number of impacted employees since April 28. Confirmation came from the state of Michigan’s “Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act” page on May 12.
