Seven Point Cannabis Dispensary in Danville might have the first drive-thru for cannabis purchases in the state, according its owner, Brad Zerman.
“We’re currently awaiting final approval from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation for our drive-thru service,” said Zerman during public comments at Tuesday’s city council meeting. “Once approved, it will provide a safe and convenient way to access our products. We may become the first licensed cannabis drive-thru in Illinois.”
This is happening because of Senate Bill 3222, known as the ‘cannabis omnibus bill,’ signed into law by Governor J.B. Pritzker in June. Pritzker put out a news release immediately after touting the ways it will ‘ensure’ the marijuana products will not end up in the hands of children by banning ‘misleading marketing and packaging’ that appeals to children, and gutting ‘intoxicating hemp products’ by making them subject to regulations in the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act by November as well as making it illegal to sell the products to those under 21.
