Governor Gavin Newsom recently announced legal cannabis sales have generated nearly $8.4 billion in tax revenue for California communities, including nearly $4.5 billion in cannabis excise tax and nearly $3.4 billion in sales tax.
Revenue from cannabis sales helped to fund programs including childcare and early childhood development, youth substance abuse prevention, medical research and environmental recovery.
