Ben Ranft was turned down when he approached John Mayer over leasing a vacant space at 202 S. Minnesota Ave. The Patrick’s on Third owner informed Ranft that the space already had a future as a site for a cannabis dispensary.
Before Minnesota had become the 23rd state in the US to legalize cannabis in August, 2023, Ranft had tossed around the idea of getting in on the ground floor of the budding industry, even going as far as to purchase several domain names. So the current St. Peter City Councilor asked to meet with Mayer’s business partners to learn more about their vision for the storefront.
