Michigan: Bad Axe Voters To Decide Whether To Allow Marijuana Dispensaries

Oct 15, 2026 | Elections, Great Lakes Region, Michigan

This upcoming November, Bad Axe residents will be able to vote on whether marijuana establishments should be allowed to operate in the city.

The proposal asks voters whether the city should repeal Ordinance No. 2019-3, which prohibits the establishments, and instead allow up to two to operate in the city under Michigan’s marijuana law. Bad Axe resident Dan Glaza advocated to get the proposal on the ballot, saying he wanted to give residents a say in the city’s longstanding cannabis debate.

“My whole idea was simply let the voters decide period,” Glaza said. “This is letting the voters decide.”

City Council member Mark Robinson echoed this sentiment, adding that he doesn’t “care if the people of Bad Axe do not want it. I care they’re not given a choice.”
