Michigan: Marijuana Farm Loses Court Fight Over Clearing Protected Wetlands

Oct 8, 2026 | Feature, Great Lakes Region, Michigan

A judge has ruled that a marijuana grower illegally cleared nearly 16 acres of protected wetlands while building a large cannabis farm in northern Michigan.

Ingham County Circuit Judge Morgan Cole sided with state environmental regulators last month in a years-long dispute with Bliss Corporate Inc., which operates Bliss Farms in Iosco County.

The ruling leaves Bliss facing potentially significant civil penalties and an order to restore wetlands altered during development of the farm.

The court has not yet issued a signed written order. Cole granted the state’s motion for summary disposition orally from the bench on Sept. 23, according to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.
