The Muskegon Lumberjacks have announced a partnership with adult-use and medical marijuana cannabis dispensary Rair, a Michigan-based company with locations in Muskegon, Big Rapids, Lowell, and Bay City.
According to the terms of the sponsorship, Rair is a dominant sponsor of the Lumberjacks organization, which includes signage around the arena as well as several opportunities for tabling and giveaway events at games over the course of the next year. Rair is also the presenting sponsor of the first intermission of every game, now known as the “Rair First Period Break.”
In 2018, the Las Vegas Lights of the United Soccer League made headlines as the first U.S.-based sports organization to partner with a cannabis company. Since then, several other major organizations have signed on to partner with cannabis companies, including the UFC, Bellator MMA, and the National Women’s Soccer League.
While cannabis and sports are still emerging as a common pairing in the mainstream, Molly McFadden, Director of Retail Operations for Rair, says the partnership with the Lumberjacks is a perfect fit. “When we met with the team, we quickly identified common passions and shared philosophies. From giving back to the community, to the value of female leadership, we knew without a doubt this was an organization we identified with and wanted to work with.”
“Our community certainly benefits from having Rair within it,” said Muskegon Lumberjacks President of Business Operations Andrea Rose. “We are thrilled to work with Rair and to help them build awareness of their values within our community.”
