Congress has once again amended The CARES Act which is now allowing Dispensaries, Cannabis Industry Organizations, Cannabis Non-Profits, Cannabis Legal Groups, Cannabis Associations, Cannabis Consumer Goods etc. to obtain the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERC), says cannabis attorney Christopher Wolfe, in a press release.
The ERC is pretty complicated, and the requirements have changed over time, so you may have heard different things that make you think your cannabis associated business can’t benefit from it. I know it can sound too good to be true! Cannabis associated businesses DO qualify! The ERC is a tax credit up to $26,000 per W2 employee from 2020 and/or 2021 tax years, not a grant nor a loan. I have helped other cannabis industry businesses receive their ERC too, including a dispensary in Michigan get over $7 Million back as a tax credit.
