The Lume Social Equity Scholarship is offering four $1,250 grants to attend a semester at Kalamazoo Valley Community College’s Cannabis Certification Program, which provides job skills needed to succeed in the fast-evolving cannabis industry. Two scholarships are available for the fall semester and two for the winter semester.

To be considered for one of the Lume Social Equity Scholarships, applicants must have been convicted of a cannabis-related offense. A recipient can use the scholarship for his or her education, or it can be used by the child of a recipient.

“We are proud to provide this scholarship opportunity to people who have been disproportionately affected and harmed by cannabis enforcement as well as their children,” said Doug Hellyar, Lume president and COO. “At Lume, we are deeply committed to making our communities a better place and eliminating the stigma around cannabis. We hope these scholarships will help someone start a rewarding career in this new, dynamic and growing industry.”

Scholarship applications can be submitted by emailing socialequity@lume.com. The application should include a short introduction about the scholarship recipient and lay out the ways the scholarship will benefit that person.
