Marijuana is coming to Saline, which has seen a frenzy of dispensary development proposals in the months since opening the door to recreational cannabis businesses within city limits.
The extent of the development boom may have caught some city leaders off guard.
On Monday, July 18, Saline City Council tempered its embrace of the industry, taking measures to ease the concentration of potential dispensaries along commercial corridors in the city where they are allowed.
The amended rules quadruple the required buffer zone between medical and recreational marijuana dispensaries, upping it from 250 feet to 1,000 feet, while also clarifying how that distance is measured.
