For the second time in three months, residents in Menominee, Michigan passed an amendment to limit the number of cannabis dispensaries in the city.
Tuesday’s vote was 78 percent in favor of implementing a cap.
Since Michigan legalized recreational marijuana in 2018, more and more pot shops have been opening in Menominee. Initially, there was a limit on the number of dispensary licenses, but after a legal battle, the city’s cap was removed.
The ordinance will limit the number of dispensaries to nine. Menominee has already issued licenses to nine dispensaries, and according to Mayor Casey Hoffman, another four are trying to open up shop.
