Judge Allows 10 Companies To Temporarily Sell Intoxicating Hemp In Ohio

Jun 17, 2026 | Great Lakes Region

A federal judge in northern Ohio sided with 10 hemp-beverage manufacturers Monday, allowing the businesses to sell intoxicating hemp in Ohio for 14 days.

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Helmick issued a temporary restraining order for 10 intoxicating hemp businesses, allowing them to sell products in Ohio for 14 days, with the possibility of extending the ruling further. Helmick sided with the coalition of businesses, arguing Ohio’s new law banning intoxicating hemp products and beverages — hemp that is chemically altered to produce intoxicating effects — likely violates federal law.

Under the ruling, 10 companies will be able to sell in Ohio for the next two weeks: 420 Beverage, Your Highness, Hopportunity, Saucy Seltzer, Appalachian Girls, Modern Distribution, Niche Beverage, The Hemp Collect, Slightly Elevated, Mellow Fellow and Muffins.
