Workers at a cannabis grow house in Pike County, Illinois started picketing on Thursday, June 25, with the union vice president accusing the company of violating the National Labor Relations Act.
“We have over two-thirds of our workforce out here standing up for each other,” said the Barry, Illinois Ascend Wellness Grow House worker Cory Hill.
Hundreds of people have shown up to fight for a fair contract and safe working conditions after what they say has been a year and half of failed negotiations with Ascend.
“After years and years of being treated hard and watching all my coworkers be treated hard, it was kind of an easy choice,” said Hill.
