Could The White House Stop A Federal Hemp-THC Ban?

Jul 23, 2026 | Feature, National

On Monday, the White House sent Congress a list of requests for increased funding across various programs. That list included a request to update the definition of hemp-derived cannabinoid products.

The request reads: “Language is needed to update the statutory definition of final hemp-derived cannabinoid products to allow Americans to benefit from access to appropriate full-spectrum CBD products while preserving the Congress’s intent to restrict the sale of products that pose serious health risks.”

This comes as a federal hemp ban approaches, set to take effect in November.

The Hemp Industry and Farmers of America (HIFA), a nonpartisan coalition of hemp industry advocates, released a statement in favor of the White House July 20 request.
