Illinois has issued medical cannabis dispensary licenses to 37 existing adult-use dispensaries, allowing them to serve registered medical patients and adult-use customers at the same location.
The change took effect immediately, according to Gov. JB Pritzker’s office and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Under the new law, adult-use dispensaries with active licenses in good standing can apply for a medical cannabis dispensary license. Once approved, they can sell cannabis to registered medical patients at the medical tax rate and up to each patient’s authorized allotment.
