DEA Marijuana Rescheduling Hearing Halted Over GAO Report

Oct 2, 2026 | Feature, National, Regulatory

A DEA judge has paused a hearing regarding the Trump administration’s request to move marijuana to a Schedule III drug from a Schedule I drug over a recent Government Accountability Office report that found “gaps” in the federal government’s drug scheduling process.

DEA Chief Administrative Law Judge Derek Julius on Tuesday granted a stay on Tuesday to groups who are opposed to the rescheduling, Marijuana Moment reported.

The groups, who are mostly related to the drug testing industry, want the GAO report entered into the hearing record.
